Isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) is gaining a lot of interest with many applications in different fields, ranging from food (traceability, authentication, ....), medicine, ecology, environment, cultural heritage to geosciences.

The 2nd IRMS Day inaugurates a new series of workshops dedicated to the applications of isotope ratio mass spectrometry to the different fields. The purpose is to bring together a wide community of scientists working in the stable isotope area coming from all over the Italy, to encourage communication across disciplines and dealing with similar issues.

Organized in plenary lectures, oral and poster communications, the 2nd IRMS Day is a good opportunity to link industrial needs and academic knowledge and to promote meeting, discussion and cooperation among scientists coming from public and private institutions, universities and industries to define the state of the art, instrumentation, methodologies, applications and innovations in the isotope ratio mass spectrometry field.

Topics include:
  • Food Traceability, Authentication and Forensic science
  • Flavors & Fragrances
  • plant science and physiology
  • Paleo-climatology and paleo-diet
  • Ecology (terrestrial, freshwater and marine)
  • Migration and provenance
  • Geosciences and hydrology
  • Environmental sciences
  • Biochemistry and medicine
  • Advances in stable isotope analyses and new instrumentation

The informal atmosphere and the social program will ensure wide contacts and interactions among participants.

This workshop has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 692241- MASSTWIN”.
